Courtney Batten, the creative force behind Paige Studio, is bringing a fresh perspective to the Dallas interior design scene. Known for her rich color palettes and refined modern aesthetic, Courtney’s work seamlessly blends old with new. In this Q&A, we delve into her thoughts on current trends, her approach to balancing timelessness, and her experience with emerging design styles like terrazzo.

A Bold Revival of Color

Interior Design 411: “What upcoming color trends are you most excited about?”

Courtney Batten: “Warm, bold colors are making a comeback, and I couldn’t be more excited! Think burgundy, rich purples, and warm wood tones. People are tired of the generic white kitchen and are looking for spaces with more personality.”

Timeless Design: A Balancing Act

ID 411: “How do you balance staying on trend with maintaining a timeless aesthetic in your designs?”

CB: “I specialize in historic homes, so it’s easy to maintain a timeless aesthetic by letting the architecture influence the design. In new homes, I use the same principle, allowing the surrounding architecture to guide my selections. I like to be more daring with furniture pieces and items that are easily switched out, like lighting and hardware.”

ID 411: “Can you share a recent project where you incorporated an emerging design style, and what challenges did you face?”

CB: “I’m currently working on a kitchen in a 1950s cottage where we’re using custom teal terrazzo countertops. Finding a vendor who could produce what we envisioned was a challenge. Terrazzo, though not new, is somewhat of a lost art.”

Sustainability as a Priority

ID 411: “How do you approach eco-friendly practices in your projects?”
